Cold Brew – Making The Batch

  • Cold brew:
23 litres of filtered water (Order from Woolworths)
Coffee (not the coffee we use in store)  (ethiopian yirgacheffe’)
    Paper filter
    Permanent Filter & Bucket
Black Cold Brew Base:
  1. Fill bucket up to line with water  ~11.5 litres
  2. Weigh out 1350g Single Origin Coffee beans
  3. Set decaf grinder to coarse roughly between 2 – 3
making sure grinder is clean inside, grind all 1350g into a container
  4. Put coffee into paper filter which then goes inside the permanent filter
  5. Insert filter into bucket and pour over (not too fast) the remaining 11.5 litres of water onto the coffee grinds in a circular motion while trying not to get it on the visible filter, stir afterwards.
  6. After one hour, come back and give it a good stir making sure all the grinds are soaked, be gentle you don’t want to tear the paper filter.
  7. After 10 to 13 hours of brew time, pull up and twist the permanent filter so it can drain into a CLEAN bucket for ~1hour. Make sure to taste test it before selling.
